Chef Profile

Worldly in his experience and much awarded in his cooking, it is with pride and pleasure that Bistro Bakini offers a menu designed by Head Chef Ritesh Patil.

Ritesh holds an impressive culinary history behind his apron strings, having traversed the globe to learn technical skills and to experience the rush of commercial kitchens from London to India, and now our very own Melbourne kitchen.

For Ritesh, gaining gastronomic wisdom has come from training with the culinary greats like Chef Antonio Carluccio, otherwise known as the ‘Godfather of Italian cuisine’ and whom Jamie Oliver also began his professional career with at Neal Street Restaurant in London. Absorbing some of Antonio’s passion for keeping food real and utterly delicious, Ritesh went on to become head chef at a number of award winning restaurants within 5-star luxury hotels across India. Notably, Ritesh was Head Chef of Aqua at The Park Hotels, Chennai, India, which was selected in the 50 best restaurants in Asia by the Miele Guide in 2010 as well as Head Chef of 601 at The Park Hotels, Chennai, India, with numerous accolades received from the Times Food Guide India, including Best All-day Dining Casual, Best Brunch and Best Pizza in The City from 2012 to 2014.

At Bakini restaurant, Ritesh now specialises in fresh and flavoursome Italian cuisine, enjoying working with freshly handmade pasta and cured meats such as prosciutto, coppa and mortadella. We invite you to stay awhile and mingle over the mouth-watering dishes crafted by world-class chef, Ritesh Patil.
